Oh… Is this a public thread?
It is. But, the form should send me a private email, I hope.
Dear Travis,
Sorry for the slow reply, work and the blog have kept me busy.
>>I’ve been really enjoying this series on the shoguns… thanks for all the great info!
That means a lot. Thank you. It’s been a labor of love that sucked the life out of me. Tonight I’ll be writing about Yoshinobu’s grave. Very bitter sweet. lol
As for the Kano school… that’s what I assumed. But it’s such a broad category…
I’ll poke around some Kano school resources for a while and see what comes up.
For me the allure of history is always trying to see the unseeable and get answers to the unanswerable. The shogun graves series has got my curiosity maxed out.
By the way, I’ve really been enjoying your discussions on Okinawa recently. Very enlightening to say the least. Thank you.

Hello, My name is Madeline and I am in the process of a project concerning the play Benten Kozo (A Japanese Kabuki production as you probably know). When I came across your blog, I was astounded by your detailed knowledge and research and by your seemingly sincere love for Japanese Arts.
I was wondering if you had any photos of courtesan wigs or costumes used in Kabuki theatre (specifically in Benten Kozo)? Also, as I don’t speak Japanese I’ve had a lot of difficulty in finding a video of the play performed-do you by any chance have a link to such a video?
Thank you for your help-it is very much appreciated.
Also-would you know how I could get in contact with Toshimi Tanaka
(the costume designer and dresser for college kabuki in Oregon who helped you the event “Kabuki: Negotiating Historical, Geographical, and Cultural Borders Symposium”)?
Thank you again.
