There are a great many things going on in Japan that I feel I am constantly missing out on. In Tokyo especially; at Kabuki-za in particular.
Here’s one more thing that would be neat to see, if I were in Tokyo to see it:
For one night only, on October 26, the Noh play “Matsukaze” will be performed at Kabuki-za along with a Kabuki dance based on it. Kanze Kiyokazu and Kanze Yoshinobu will perform the Noh, while Bandô Tamasaburô and Nakamura Fukusuke take on the roles of Matsukaze and Murasame for the kabuki dance.

I often went to Misonoza( 御園座）living in Nagoya city,
and only one time , I have seen Takiginoh(薪能) at Atsuta shrine.
near my town ,there is a local Kabuki theater .
it is called ” jikabuki(地歌舞伎)
Kabuki came down to farming villege.
entrance fee is free.
if you have the chance , plesea visit Jikabuki .
there are many local kabuki theater for Jikabuki through Japan.
famous Kabuki actors don’t come , though , so interesting
I would love to see Takigi Noh some day; it sounds really interesting.
I have read about Ji-kabuki in the Edo period, but didn’t know such things still existed. Now I’m really intrigued; I’ve got to see this! Thanks for letting me know about it.
Just to be sure, it’s separate from Taishû engeki (大衆演劇), right? I’ve seen Tachibana Daigorô and his troupe once… would like to see Saotome Taichi. But that’s not ji-kabuki, right?

I like Saotome Taichi.
Some people include Jikabuki as Taishu engeki.
but Jikabuki is different from Taishu Engeki.
Jikabuki is 100% kabuki handed down from Edo period.
it was played by person living in the village.
So actors were not proffesional Kabuki actor such as , Ichikawa Danjuro, Kichiemon,,etc.
and someime, Jikabuki is called ” Sho shibai( 小芝居）
Sho shibai is Kabuki played by not famous actor.
” Ooshibai(大芝居）is kabuki played by famous professional kabuki actor.
